The alarm goes off, you don’t want to get up, its cold, your bed is comfy and warm. We all do it….it is so easy to stay in bed. It takes lots of mental willpower to get yourself up and going for that early morning exercise call.
The thing is, once you get up how good do you feel!? The day has begun, your workout energises you with those endorphins giving you that mental and sometimes “spiritual” happy boost to start your day off right.
Not a morning person? Need some help getting into a routine? Here are some great tips from Personal Trainer and Nutritional Coach Dave Scott from “Make Your Body Work” to help coax you out of bed.
1 – Kick Start Your Metabolism
By starting your day with exercise you fire up all those fat burning hormones. Your body continues to burn calories even after your workout. That means you will keep your metabolism high and burn, burn, burn all day long.
2 – Stimulate Mental Energy
While we all think that coffee is the ONLY thing that can get us on track in the morning, we are WRONG! Studies show that a morning workout can give you almost double the mental clarity and focus than a cup of coffee.
3 – Better Sleep
Exercise is a form of stress and when you exercise later in the day those stress hormones are elevated. It takes a while for your body to come down from that stressful period. Later bedtimes happen when your body cannot recover from your evening workout. By exercising in the morning, your body will enjoy a healthy sense of fatigue. With all that stress and handwork behind you, a better and deeper sleep will occur. No more tossing and turning.
4 – Establishes A Routine
Getting up early develops a healthy habit, self-discipline and a sense of accomplishment in the morning.
5 – You Can See The Benefits
You will be burning calories all day with your boosted metabolism, that means all the calories that you consume post workout, go towards replenishing your body. Plus, you made the effort to get up on that cold morning so you might as well make it worth it! You will work harder and hence see the benefits and results.
6 – You Are Done For The Day
There is nothing hanging over your head or that dreaded thought “I have to go to the studio after work”. You are in the clear to enjoy life, go for that after work drink or go home and “gasp” actually relax!
7 – The Morning Crew Is FUN
That’s right. If you have the guts to get up in the dark for an early morning workout, you don’t want to mess around with a bunch of grumpy ol’ poops. But that NEVER happens with our 6am crew. We train, we laugh, we make each other a coffee or tea, and we get “it” done.
Now go out, enjoy your life with a new sense of purpose, feeling and looking great!
