Garlicky Dilly Fermented Carrots

Don’t be scared! Fermented food sounds scary but on the contrary are so tasty.

Fermented foods such as kombucha, sauerkraut and kimchi are some of the best things you can put in your body. Gut health is becoming recognised as one of the keys to optimising overall health and by putting these great natural probiotics into your system you create healthy harmony in your tummy.

These carrots are so good my 4 year old son eats them and loves them! Try this super simple recipe and enjoy the savoury goodness. Xx Jenn

INGREDIENTS

1 Large Mason Jar

3-4 Garlic Cloves

Fresh Dill

Himalayan pink sea salt

4-5 Carrots, sliced lengthwise into sticks

 

PREPARATION

LAYER the garlic & dill at the bottom of the jar.

ADD the carrot sticks.

FILL the jar with filtered water leaving about 1 inch at the top.

ADD the salt on top, close jar with the lid tightly and give it a good shake.

PLACE the jar in a dark cool place for about 3-4 days (a cool pantry is a great spot).

BURP the jar daily to release a bit of the gasses. Test the carrots after about 3-4 days. Be careful when you open the jar. Explosiveness can happen!

PLACE in the fridge and enjoy
